This book is about an accident on a farm. This is a short story which is suitable for all P1 to P6 students in Ho Ming.
For P1 – P3 students, this is a short story. It is simple and easy, and will just take you 10 – 15 minutes to finish the book. There are some difficult words but the pictures help. You can also learn some problem solving skill from the book.
For P4 – 6 students, you may be too busy to read English novels. Don’t worry! You will find this short story book useful. This book is as short and easy as your free writing. It reminds you of some simple English grammar rules (that you may have forgotten) and some useful story-writing skills – when and how to add dialogues and questions. If you think this is an easy book for lower form students, you are wrong! Do you know how the writer uses the adjective ‘terrible’? There are also phrasal verbs and present perfect tense in the book. Have you ever used them in your story-writing? Can you write an excellent short story like this?
Read the book and find out more wonderful features of the book. Learn to write stories with wonderful adjectives, phrasal verbs and dialogues. What are you thinking about? Why are you still here? Go and borrow the book from our school library.

This story is about a girl who was the naughtiest one at school. She is named Elizabeth. She always acts naughty and plays tricks on others. However, one day, she wanted to help the teacher to organize the singing contest. The teacher gave her a chance and let her organize this event. Elizabeth did not play any tricks but tried to do well. Lastly, she helped organize a wonderful singing contest for the whole school.
I think we can learn something after reading this book. It is we need to make every effort and work harder. Like Elizabeth, she worked hard and practiced hard every day. It is not easy to get the admiration of others. EEvery effort should be made if we want to succeed. We cannot just sit here and wait for others’ help.
I like this book very much since this book was really meaningful and fun. I learnt that everyone has a chance to improve themselves, no matter how bad or how naughty you are. In the story, Elizabeth was the naughtiest at school however her teacher gave her a chance to serve the school, to improve herself. Also we should learn to forgive others. Like the teacher in the book, although she knew how naughty and irresponsible Elizabeth was , she still gave her a chance to and forgive her. Everyone will make mistakes, try to forgive their fault and don't waste the chance to improve ourselves given by others. there are the things I learnt through the story. In addition, the writer uses a funny story to tell us something important. These make us relaxed and help us learn what the story wants to tell us.

Hello Ho Ming kids! How are you? Do you miss our library? What books have you read recently? The new school term has started for a month and I am sure that you have made some new friends in your class. But wait…What makes you want to talk with that classmate? Is it because his or her voice is beautiful? Is it because you two have the same hobbies? Or is it because he or she understands your drawings? If your answer is “yes”, congratulations! You probably can be friends with the Little Prince!
So, who is the Little Prince?. Once upon a time there was a little prince who lived on a tiny planet, B612, which was scarcely any bigger than he. One day he left the safety of his own planet to travel the universe. He met different people throughout the journey and learnt a lot about adults’ behaviors. His odyssey culminates in a voyage to Earth, where he met the author, Mr. Antoine De Saint-Exupéry.
I love this book so much because the adventures of little prince are interesting and his sharing is lovely. In one chapter, the Little Prince talked about a terrible plant on his planet, the baobabs. He said “A baobab is something you will never, never be able to get rid of if you attend to it too late. It spreads over the entire planet. It bores clear through it with its roots. And if the planet is too small, and the baobabs are too many, they split it in pieces . . .” My friends, I think bad habits to us are like the baobabs to the planet, if we notice it too late it would be difficult for us to break it when we grow up. And it may be horrible like this:
Wao! It is horrible, isn’t it? The Little Prince knows it well so he is never lazy at pulling up the shoots of the baobabs when they are little. Therefore, Ho Ming kids, let’s learn from Little Prince and break our bad habits before it is too late!
For more interesting adventures and touching stories of the Little Prince, please go to the library and borrow it! I am waiting for you to share your views about the book with us!

Life is a daring adventure filled with exciting encounters. In this book “Dream Big”, edited by Ignatius Ho & Ding, Nick tells us about his incredible life journeys on dreaming a big dream. How can a baby boy without limbs finally become a well-known motivational speaker? It is all about the power of dream!
The story starts with Nick as a little boy who eventually overcomes the fear of bullying at school due to his birth defect. His parents teach him not to take for granted how fortunate his life is and all the people who are there to support him. Nick introduces his idea of the dream; to have a purpose in life and most importantly to achieve those dreams. In the later chapters, Nick allows us to explore how overcoming fears, faith, perseverance, motivation, life miracles and the power of love has taught him how he could achieve his dreams. Overall, the book has a fast-pace plot which never ceases to motivate me and allows me to reflect on how fortunate I am living in Hong Kong.
My favourite chapter of this book is “The Power of Love”. This is the most memorable chapter to me because it gives me a strong message that we should not take for granted those who are supporting us all the time, and those who love us constantly. Most importantly, it teaches us the importance of friendships and family. Nick also stresses it is important to give love to those strangers who are less fortunate than us, and above all help those in need.
Overall, I like this book because it motivates me to follow my dreams, and how I should be taking action; such as by overcoming my fears, and knowing who to love. I would recommend this book to my friends, my students, and those people in society who do not feel confident about themselves.

“Give me a hug’ is an illustrated storybook based on the true story of a limbless Australian motivational speaker, Nick Vujicic.
Nick Vujicic was born 32 years ago with no arms and no legs. It was a shock to his parents. There is no medical reason for it. His parents did their best to keep him in the mainstream school system and give him every opportunity to live to the fullest.
At age thirteen he hurt his foot, which he uses for many things like typing, writing and swimming. That injury made him realize that he needs to be more thankful for his abilities and less focused on his disabilities.
At the age of twenty-one, he graduated from university! He has a double degree in financial planning and accounting. Later, he went across 44 countries and gave more than fifteen hundred talks to more than four million people! He always encourages people to have dreams and to focus on what they can do and what they are good at doing. He realized that we all need love and hope and he shares that with people around the world.
I think it is a touching and meaningful book. Nick teaches us never give up and everything is possible if we try our very best!

"People always complain that theycan't do this and they can't do that. If we look at our lives andconcentrate on things that we don't have or wish to have, that doesn't change the circumstances. The truth is that we have to focus on what we have and makethe best out of it.'

Knuffle Bunny is a very funny book by Mo Willems. Mo Willems is one of my favourite authors. He writes very funny stories and draws very funny pictures too!
Knuffle Bunny is the story of a little girl named Trixie. She has a toy rabbit called Knuffle Bunnny. Trixie can’t talk yet, she is still a baby.
One day Trixie and her daddy went out to do the washing at a public laundry. They walked through town. At the laundry, Trixie helped her daddy put the dirty clothes in the washing machine. When they were walking home Trixie started to talk, but her daddy didn’t understand her. She said nonsense words like “aggle flaggle klabble.” Obviously her daddy did not understand her, she wasn’t saying real words! Trixie became very upset. She screamed and refused to go home. But her daddy didn’t understand why! When they got home her mother knew why Trixie was so upset. Knuffle Bunny was missing!
I will not to tell you the ending of the book. I suggest you find the book in the library and see what happened to Trixie and Knuffle Bunny!
I would recommend this book to students in P1-P3. Older students might also like to look at this book because the pictures are different. In most books the illustrator draws the pictures. In some books a photographer takes photos. In Knuffle Bunny, Mo Willems has used both photos and drawings. The photos are in black and white and Mo Willems drew colour cartoons over the top. The effect is very interesting.

What is the story about?
The story is about a little boy who sets up a pet-sitting business. He is called Max. He can’t wait to be a pet sitter. But with every new job he has to look after some very unusual pets. Once Max has to pet sit for a puppy which is owned by a wizard. The puppy is named Fang. It is so surprising that Fang can talk with Max. Although Fang is a bit naughty, Max finds Fang is adorable most of the time. Every day Max has to take Fang for a walk secretly as pets are not allowed in the wizard’s apartment block. Max has everything under control until the full moon comes out one evening. Fang behaves strangely and he is no longer adorable after all …
This book was a great kids' book. There were nice uses of vocabulary that could help young readers learn more words. I really enjoyed this book because the plot was so interesting. In the story, you could find adventure and magic which were both very attractive to readers, especially the young ones.
I highly recommend this book to kids who love animals. They will have fun!

“Doe, a dear, a female deer.
Ray, a drop of golden sun.”
Are you familiar with these few lines of lyrics? It is a famous song from the popular musical “The Sound of Music”. Maria, a nun who takes a job as governess to the von Trapp family, the most prestigious family in town. She neglects the rules set by Captain von Trapp to restrict their behaviors. Instead, Maria teaches children their lessons to make sure that there is enough time for running, climbing trees and etc. More importantly, Maria teaches them to sing out loud, which is entirely different from the previous governesses. Eventually, children are inspired by her teaching methodology and Maria gets married with Captain von Trapp to live together happily ever after.
Have you ever thought that you could read this amazing story from a distinct perspective and interesting format? From now on, you can find the one and the only pop-up book in school library. Through the splendid pop-up format, classic scenarios from the story are presented vividly, just like they actually happen right in front of you. Along with wonderful depictions, the representation of genuine beauty from “The Sound of Music” is once again perfectly shown. I hope that this funny and special pop-up book will become your new favorite. Stop hesitating, come to library and grab it!

I am “Harry Potter” super fans. The story of “Harry Potter” is amazing and every scene of the eight Harry Potter movies is gorgeous. Now you can see Dumbledore’s desk, Daigon Alley, Hogwarts castle, magical creatures, scenes from the Triwizard Tournament, and elements of the Dark Arts through the magical pops inside the “Harry Potter A Pop-up Book”.
On the first page of the book, there are two wanted notices printed by the Ministry of Magic and a colourful poster showing Harry was riding on Hedwig flying around the Hogwarts castle. There is also a floating letter which is a paper prop Ron Weasley got from his mother. When you open the floating letter, you will see an animated scary mouth seems shouting in the air.
There are some brief descriptions about the magical pops on each page. For those who has not read or watched the “Harry Potter”, you will have some ideas on the story. Remember to open the paper flips on each page, you will see some moving creatures, such as the monstrous three-headed dog “Fluffy”, Voldemort’s giant snake and Dementors.
You can find much more interesting animated paper pops in this book. The fantastic pop-ups will bring you to the wizarding world. Let’s enjoy reading this book and you may become one of the “Harry Potter” super fans. Go to our school library and borrow this book now!

書名:The Snow Queen
作者: Hans Christian Andersen
“The Snow Queen” is an original fairy tale. The story centers on the struggle between good and evil as experienced by Gerda and her friend. The story is one of Andersen's longest and most highly acclaimed stories. It is regularly included in selected tales and collections of his work and is frequently reprinted in illustrated storybook editions for children. “The Snow Queen” even inspired the highly successful Disney movie “Frozen”.
In the original story, “the devil”, creates a mirror that turns good to evil. He delights in using it to distort everyone and everything: it makes the loveliest landscapes look like “boiled spinach”. The mirror fails to reflect the good and beautiful aspects of people and things, but magnifies their bad and ugly aspects. His demons attempt to carry the mirror into heaven in order to make fools of the angels and of God. But the higher they lift it, the more it shakes with laughter. It slips from their grasp and falls back to earth, shattering into a billion pieces, some no larger than a grain of sand ……
Let’s explore the ending together! I would recommend you to read this story with your parents. It would be delightful! Go and check out this book.
